Come and enjoy a healthy work/life balance in Northland and enjoy our fantastic surroundings. Only a couple hours' drive from Auckland, we enjoy the best of both worlds. Northland boasts an abundance of white sandy beaches and a wealth of fishing and diving spots that make this the perfect place to live, work, and play. In addition to our plentiful marine environment, our region is a major agricultural center producing fresh local ingredients for our thriving markets, cafes and restaurants.

However, it is the people that make a place and you will find the staff at the Regional Council, down to earth, warm and welcoming - just like the people and communities we serve. We are extremely passionate about the work we do and take our responsibilities in protecting and investing in Northland seriously.

We have a vacancy for an Accounting Assistant - Treasury & Projects based in Whangarei. The primary purpose of the position is to provide support in managing council's liquidity, investment and borrowing programmes, collaborating with council's operational divisions to provide support and work on various accounting projects. The key responsibilities of this role include cashflow and treasury management administration, subsidy claims and revenue recognition and general accounting.

We are seeking an accounting administrator with 5+ years practical experience within a financial environment. Excellent communication, interpersonal and computer skills are essential, along with the ability to explain/report financial information in a clear, succinct and persuasive manner to a non-technical audience.

Ideally, we are wanting someone who has experience in cashflow and treasury management administration, internal and external auditing (specifically within a local government operation), along with sound practical knowledge within a financial environment.
